Margueron is a village with an ancient agricultural vocation. Today, with viticulture predominating, there are still breeders and cereal growers. The 1925th century Saint-Martin church, rebuilt in the XNUMXth century, was listed in the Supplementary Inventory of Historic Monuments in XNUMX.
The imposing La Tuquette building brings together the multi-purpose home, the reading point, 3 classes at the RPI La Roquille-Margueron-Ligueux and a holiday center, with a capacity of 60 beds, approved for Youth and Sports and National Education, suitable for welcoming groups.
Margueron means marl, clay. Different localities indicate the nature of the soil such as Le Pierrail, others testify to artisanal activity, notably La Tuilerie or Le Chenevrier. The construction of a new town hall was carried out near these facilities.
