Pineuilh, whose name means “The Point of the Rock”, completely surrounds the bastide of Sainte-Foy-la-Grande and is characterized by a green landscape made up of fertile plains and hillsides. Its five kilometers of banks of the Dordogne have always constituted a necessary crossing point leading to the formation of a human group.

This is how on the hillside which overlooks the old town, and from where we dominate the river and the entire plain, there was a fortified castle protecting the inhabitants from invasions.
The geographical and climatic advantages, as well as its position on key communication routes (river, railway and road routes) have made Pineuilh a sought-after site both for its quality of life and for its economic potential.

Quite naturally, agriculture (718 ha), and in particular viticulture (473 ha) as well as related activities, represent the glue of the local economy.
